If you’ve forgotten your Microsoft 365 password and self-service reset is set up on your account, you can be back in within a minute or two – no ticket needed.
Self-service reset
- Go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
- Enter your work email address and the captcha characters
- Verify it’s you with your phone, the Authenticator app, or your backup email
- Choose a new password: minimum 12 characters with a mix of upper case, lower case, numbers and symbols. Three unrelated words with a number and symbol beats Company2026! every time
After the reset
Your phone and any second computer are still holding the old password, and they will retry it until the account locks. Update the saved password on every device as soon as you reset – if Outlook starts an endless prompt loop afterwards, see Outlook keeps asking for your password.
If MFA isn’t working
Lost or replaced your phone and can’t approve the verification? Raise a ticket from another device or message us on WhatsApp and we’ll verify your identity before resetting MFA. That verification step is a security check we won’t skip – it’s exactly the door an attacker would try to walk through. Once you’re back in, set up a backup method so this can’t strand you again: see Adding MFA to your account.
If self-service reset isn’t enabled on your account at all, raise a ticket and we’ll reset the password for you and switch self-service on for next time.
